What differentiates Voxel from any other contract manufacturer, or even any other company in the electrochemical machining world? The answer: a production-ready engineering environment, driven by co-development and innovation.

What is Voxel Not?

At its core, Voxel Innovations is an advanced contract manufacturer specializing in the development and deployment of critical components for production environments via in-house pulsed electrochemical machining (PECM).

However, before detailing Voxel's unique business model and process, it's important to first clarify on a few key misconceptions about what we do:

  • Not a job shop: Voxel is not structured around executing short-term, low-volume products for the lowest possible bid. Voxel's work is centered on solving manufacturing challenges tied to functionality, stability, and long-term production success as opposed to quick-turnaround, cost-cutting work.

  • Not a turnkey ECM supplier: Generally, Voxel does not seek to license out our core process IP as a product; rather, our value proposition lies in vertically-integrated process development and execution, delivering cost-effective products at-scale.

Working With Voxel

Voxel's business philosophy is to selectively incorporate our unique material removal methodology into critical production environments via applied R&D and design-heavy partnerships. Generally, that begins with alignment on intent: Voxel engages when there is a meaningful production objective and an ability to deliver new capabilities beyond what legacy manufacturing can provide.

A few key facets of our philosophy:

  • Co-Development: Throughout the development cycle, our engineers work alongside our customers' engineers to discover, challenge, and rewrite process constraints via continued, applied R&D. At times, we may work alongside our customers to perform minor, optional design adjustments that may significantly affect process strength and throughput.

  • Production Enablement: PECM is engineered for parallelization and high repeatability, allowing us to transition applications from early development to reliable, high-volume production and we thereby seek business relationships that can yield sufficient volumes to make economic sense.

  • Selectivity: Voxel does not propose PECM as a one-size-fits-all manufacturing solution, rather, as a distinct and selective machining process that, when applied properly, can yield new material, geometric, and production efficiencies otherwise impractical using legacy processes.

Why Our Relationship Model Produces Better Parts

While Voxel's material removal technology and business model creates a unique environment for advanced manufacturing, it is our engagement with prospective and current customers, and the journey from proof-of-concept to production environments, that differentiates us tremendously.

We begin by identifying which surfaces or features are function-critical and which constraints originate from legacy manufacturing assumptions: PECM not only enables new production possibilities, but new usages of geometries and materials that many customers don't realize until they work with Voxel.

We work to define stable process windows early-on in the development process with high-volume enablement in mind. This means parameter control, cathode parallelization and tool repeatability are baked-in to our feasibility stages, reducing risk later on.

As we progress, we may recommend minor, optional design refinements to our customers that preserve functional intent while simultaneously improving process strength and throughput-- as even minute adjustments in geometry can produce measurable, tangible gains in both process repeatability and economic viability for our customers.
